Cocker Spaniel Training

Training your Cocker Spaniel has to begin the second that you bring them home.  This means that you have to be prepared before the puppy comes home. You will need to have treats that you can use to reward your dog for listening. Training works better when you use positive reinforcement to reward them for doing something right, instead of punishing them for things that they do wrong. The second thing that you are going to need is a crate.

Cocker Spaniel Training
Using a crate during the training process will make housebreaking your Cocker Spaniel a little easier.  Along with the crate you are going to have to get your puppy on a bathroom schedule.  Pick the designated bathroom spot outside. This is the spot that you are going to carry your puppy to when it is time for them to relieve themselves. The first few days home you should take your puppy out ever half an hour that they are awake. Do not wake your puppy up to go to the bathroom, instead watch for them to wake up and immediately pick them up and take them.
Repetition is the only real secret that there is to training. There is no magic trick that you can learn to make training happen overnight. You just have to be patient and remember that the puppy is just a baby. They want to respect you and they do not mean to make mistakes. Enjoy the time that you get to spend with your puppy, they will not be small forever.
