How To stop Dog Chewing

Stop Dog Jumping For Good!

It is just a fact that that all doggies will chew on something in their life-time. It is a question of how much. Is it catastrophic enough to take action?

Why Do Doggies Chew?

  • Helps ease the pain during the process of puppy teething
  • Dog’s mouths are the same to our hands
  • {They get bored! and they will chew a lot while bored or anxious}

Stress can cause dogs to chew.  To fix it, we need to learn a thing or two.  It is really us that requires the training, not the dog.  What do ya know?

Things You Can Do To Minimize The Chewing:

His living space is everything, so you must definitely doggy proof your house somewhat. Consider dogs on the same caliber of destruction as a small child and proof the house with that mindset. No Problem!

Make fun chew toys always easily accessible. And keep fresh water out frequently - dogs get thirsty too! Training your dog is all about technique and using your brain to think through bad dog behavior.

Keep your treasured belongings way out of reach of the rascal. Any item that you need unchewed might be: shoes, stockings, hats, gloves, cushions, books and many other things that tend to be strewn about the house. And watch the electrical wires, that they are no just lying about ready to be chewed.

And please don’t just leave him to his own devices in the house while you are out for extended periods. That’s just asking for it.

Be sure that when you are giving her chewable toys that they don’t look like household items like shoes? It will cause her to chew your real shoes.

As hinted at above, dog proof the house and have special areas sectioned off like the kitchen if it is big enough. Please leave him a cushion to lie on because lying on the floor is cold for us, and so, it’s cold for our dogs as well.

And just one crucial pointer, no one likes to be left alone for long periods and no dog does either. If you’re going to be out of the house a lot, maybe you can get your doggy another furry friend to hang with to ease the pain and ease the anxious chewing.

Some Other Things To Consider:
If you catch your dog chewing one of your beloved belongings, use the interrupt and redirect technique. This will work wonders if you are consistent!

So, interrupt her when you catch her.  Say ‘Nope! to let her know you don’t like her chewing that item.  And make sure not to shout her name because we want her name to be associated with good times.

Then redirect her to one of her own toys to chew. Just be consistent with this and she’ll get it in time - be patient.
